Mr. Mansukh Mandaviya, the Union Health Minister wrote to Mr. Rahul Gandhi, the former President of the Indian National Congress (INC) regarding the ongoing Bharat Jodo Yatra.

Concerned about the sudden rise of the Wuhan Virus, also known as the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Mr. Mansukh Mandaviya has requested the INC leader Mr. Rahul Gandhi and Rajasthan Chief Minister Mr. Ashok Gehlot to follow the COVID-19 or adjourn the Bharat Jodo Yatra in the interests of the country and the public.

In the letter dated the 20th of December, Mr. Mansukh Mandaviya expressed concern and directed the INC leaders to look into the matter and stop the Bharat Jodo Yatra in Rajasthan.  The letter came after a few Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) and Members of Parliament (MPs) expressed concern over the spread of the Wuhan virus infection because of non adherence to the guidelines during the Yatra.

The letter read,  “Covid guidelines should be strictly followed in the ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ going on in Rajasthan.  Masks and sanitisers should be used and it should be ensured that only people vaccinated against Covid take part in this yatra. Passengers should be isolated before and after joining the Yatra.”  The letter further read, “If following the Covid-19 protocol is not possible, adjourn the Bharat Jodo Yatra seeing the Public Health Emergency and to save the nation from Covid pandemic.”

It is to be noted, the Indian National Congress (INC) led Bharat Jodo Yatra has entered Rajasthan and is being conducted there.  The yatra was started in September, raising voice against the central government rule led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP.)  As of now, the INC and Rahul Gandhi led Bharat Jodo Yatra has covered states like Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh.
