Ms. Y.S. Sharmila, the President of the YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP,) on the 19th of June, Monday, extended birthday greetings to Mr. Rahul Gandhi, the former President of the Indian National Congress.

In addition, the birthday greetings has intensified the speculations of major merger between the Indian National Congress and the YSRTP, in Telangana. Recently, there were news that Ms. Y.S. Sharmila is taking for an alliance between the YSRTP and the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC.)
The merger talks came ahead of the Telangana State Assembly elections, scheduled to be held in December 2023. The ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS,) the Indian National Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are in the fray for the elections, to come into power.
