Arvind Kejriwal Not Invited For The Magenta Line Inauguration?

Delhi is all prepped up for the inauguration of the Magenta Line by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the 25th of December. But Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal might not be present at the much awaited inaugural ceremony. Kejriwal and the Centre are disputing over the fare hike of the Delhi Metro. The Delhi CM’s office has denied to receiving an invitation for the inauguration.

A Spokesperson from the Delhi Government said, “We have no official intimation of the programme. Our top most priority is a safe Metro for the passengers and at a reasonable price. So far as the inauguration is concerned we haven’t received any invitation. The question must better be put to the DMRC and Urban Development Ministry.”

Modi will inaugurate the 12.65 Km Magenta Line from Kalkaji to Botanical Garden in Noida. This connectivity will make commuting from South Delhi to Noida easier. The Government released a statement that read, “This is the third Metro line to be inaugurated by the Prime Minister in 2017. He had earlier dedicated the Kochi Metro to the nation in June, and the Hyderabad Metro in November. The prime minister will travel on the stretch before his address.”

The new Magenta Line will take passengers from Botanical Garden to Kalkaji in just 19 minutes. But the Delhi Metro takes a total of 52 minutes with an interchange point at Mandi House Station.
