During the Budget Session at the Telangana Legislative Assembly Congress MLA Komatireddy Venkat Reddy threw his headphones injuring TRS Legislative Council Chairperson Swamy Goud in the eye. Goud was rushed to Sarojini Devi Eye Hospital in Hyderabad.
Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan was giving his speech at the Assembly when the Congress began protesting. The Congress MLAs and MLCs held placards are tried to scream over the Governor’s voice. The Congress members even began tearing up the Governor’s address,
During this ruckus, the headphones were thrown by the Congress MLA. This led to the session being adjourned for the day. Swamy Goud was seen walking out of the Assembly with a seriously injured eye.
The doctors treating Goud said his cornea was damaged and would be kept under observation till Tuesday. The Congress was protesting the Government’s poor response to the ongoing agricultural crisis.
The TRS members were unhappy with the Congress’ behavior in the House and called for strict action against Congress MLA Venkat Reddy. The TRS members have also alleged that some of the Congress members were drunk during the Budget Session.
The Congress members tried to stop the Governor’s address but Narasimhan continued unfazed. Governor Narasimhan spoke about the irrigation projects and upcoming education reforms. Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao informed his MLAs to keep calm as the Congress would attempt to disrupt the Governor’s speech.
TRS will be announcing its last budget on the 15th of March before the 2019 elections.
