In a bid to escape, a drunk man in Bengaluru bit a Head Police Constable’s finger. Roshan Raja, a 33 year old resident of Malleswaram and Girish, a 31 year old resident of Kempapura caught the eye of the patrolling policemen. The duo were heavily drunk. Roshan is employed at a private firm on the Old Airport Road and Girish is a contract labourer.
Roshan and Girish got into an argument with a group of people near DJ bar and restaurant in Bengaluru. The Sub Inspector Shivaraj and Head Constable Shanthalingu intervened in the fight.
The Police officers asked Roshan and Girish to stop the fight and leave. But the duo along with the others began arguing with the policemen and asked them to leave instead. The verbal argument turned physical as Roshan and Girish started threatening the officers.
Roshan pulled the Head Constable’s collar while he was sitting in the vehicle and managed to tear his uniform. When the officers tried to stop the duo, Roshan bit the Head Constable in a fit of rage. Roshan grabbed the Head Constable’s right hand and bit his thumb. The Head Constable Shanthalingu started bleeding.
The Sub Inspector Shivaraj managed to nab the duo. Meanwhile, Shanthalingu was rushed to the Yelahanka General Hospital to treat the bite wound on his finger.
The Kodigehalli Police registered a case against Roshan and Girish. The duo have been booked under Section 332 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty,) Section 353 (assault or criminal force to prevent public servant from discharging his duty,) Section 504 (intentional insult to provoke breach of the peace) and Section 34 (acts committed by several people to further a common intention.)
