On Monday, the Election Commission clarified the ongoing accusations of the tampered EVMs during the Gujarat Elections. Chief Election Commissioner Achal Kumar Joti stated none of the electronic voting machines were tampered during the Gujarat Assembly Elections.

Joti explained the questions raised regarding the tampering of the EVMs were answered. He also stated the Voter Verified Paper Audit Trails were useful to allow voters to see their vote.

“All arrangements have been made in Gujarat by the Chief Electoral Officer of the State in view of the counting,” Joti was quoted saying this morning. The day went on to show the BJP leading in the polls in Gujarat but with the Congress giving a good fight.

On Sunday, Patidar Leader Hardik Patel claimed that 140 Ahmedabad based software engineers were hired to hack 5,000 EVMs by using their source cards.

Patel followed his claim with a tweet stating attempts were made to hack the EVMs in tribal and Patel dominated areas. Hardik Patel questioned, “People will laugh off my claims, but if a divine creation such as the human body can be tampered with, an EVM can also be hacked. ATMs can be hacked, why not EVMs?”

The Congress has also alleged the EVMs are being hacked by the BJP. The Political Party made the claim by stating the BJP won in places only with EVMs.
