Hadiya Wants To Go Back To Her Husband

Hadiya is a young woman from Kerala who converted to Islam and changed her name to Akhila Ashokan. Hadiya’s parents allege this is a case of love Jihad and desperately want to save their daughter.

But at the Cochin airport, Hadiya told reporters she wanted to go back to her husband. “I have not been forcefully converted. I want to live with my husband Sheffin Jahan,” she said.

Hadiya has been ordered to appear in front of the Supreme Court on Monday. She and her family were escorted with heavy security to the Cochin airport where they will travel to New Delhi.

At present, Hadiya is staying with her parents who strongly believe their daughter was forced to convert to Islam. On the 30th of October, the Supreme Court stated Hadiya’s consent as an adult was important. They further added her story of how and why she married Jahan will be heard in the Apex Court on the 27th of November.

The case began in May when the Kerala High Court annulled the marriage between Jahan and Hadiya. Jahan appealed against the annulment of his marriage. He also appealed against the sanction given by the Supreme Court to the National Investigating Agency (NIA.) The sanction ordered the NIA to investigate if the marriage was a part of the emerging pattern of Muslim men who are agents of ISIS luring Hindu women.
