A 16 year old in Hyderabad was set on fire by a stalker who doused her with kerosene. The incident occurred on Tuesday evening and the minor girl is in critical condition with 70% burns.
The city’s police reported the girl was alone at home in Amberpet at 2 P.M., when the culprit entered. The culprit and victim got into a huge argument about her wedding to someone else. The accused insisted the girl give her fiance’s number which she declined.
This led to an argument and the accused threw kerosene on the minor. He then lit her chunni (stole) on fire and set the girl on fire. In the hustle, the accused also sustained burn injuries. Locals rushed the victim and the accused to Osmania General Hospital in the city.
The victim’s family said, “In the past too, the culprit created nuisance at our house. For the past one and half years, he has been pestering the girl to marry him. We never imagined that he would go to such an extent. We did a mistake by not reporting to police.”
Amberpet Police alerted the magistrate when the girl’s condition was declared severe. They recorded the victim’s statement against her stalker. The accused suffered 10% burns and a case under Section 307 of the IPC was filed.
