Hyderabad Court Imprisons 39 Drunk And Driving Accused

In a shocking crackdown on drunken driving in Hyderabad, the Third and Fourth Metropolitan Magistrate Court sentenced 39 people to prison. The Court at Erramanzil also imposed an overall fine of Rs. 7 lakh.

Among the 39, one person had their driving license (DL) completely canceled while the remaining had their DL’s canceled for a minimum of 6 months to a year.

The 39 people were sent to Chanchalguda jail to serve their sentence. Two days imprisonment was given to 26 of them. While 8 people will serve a sentence of three days. The remaining 5 have been sentenced to five days of imprisonment.

At a press release, Joint Commissioner of Police Dr. V. Ravinder said, The people who were caught in drunken driving cases will be likely to face difficulties in getting government jobs, passport and visa clearances.”

The Commissioner explained these operations would continue in the city to curb traffic violations and improve road safety.
