On Sunday, the excise officials in Hyderabad busted a three member gang that was peddling drugs in the city. The bust unearthed the sad truth that school students were among the dealer’s clientele. The officials seized 700 LSD stamps worth Rs. 20 lakhs and 35 grams of MDMA worth Rs. 1.4 lakh.

The accused have been identified as Calvin Mascrenhas (29,) Mohammed Abdul Quddus (29,) and his younger brother Mohammad Abdul Wahed (20.) Three of them were arrested with contraband by the excise wing of the task force.

The officials scanned through the WhatsApp messages in the mobile phones seized from the dealers. The messages revealed the horrifying truth of school going addicts. A ninth standard student from a prominent school in Hyderabad messaged the dealer saying, “I liked the drug. It gave me a nearly 12 hour high. I want more, can u arrange?”

Calvin Mascrenhas is from Goa while the other two from Hyderabad purchase their drugs from the same source in Chicago.

Prohibition and Excise enforcement director, Akun Sabharwal said, “I was shocked to see that all victims are from affluent families. The clientele included top professionals in MNCs. Students who are in touch with the arrested peddlers also come from reputed schools and colleges.”

The officials have begun investigating and are calling all the people who were in touch with the three peddlers. The officials refused to reveal the identity of the person supplying the drugs from Chicago. The police are verifying to see if the racket is confined to just the three dealers or is it a much bigger racket.
