The Hyderabad police managed to foil a protest by activists under the banner of the Old City Metro Rail Joint Action Committee. The JAC began a staged protest to demand the construction of the Hyderabad Metro Rail in Old City.
The protestors demanded the Telangana Government begin the construction as soon as possible without further delay. Local leaders from Congress, BJP, CPI and CPI(M) attempted a rally from Charminar to Falaknuma.
Apart from blaming the TRS Government, the protestors also accused the AIMIM of deliberately delaying the HMR construction. Left leaders were detained including CPI Hyderabad District Secretary E. T. Narasimha, AIYF Hyderabad General Secretary Narlakanti Srikanth and CPI ex MP Syed Azeez Pasha.
Last week, AIMIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi and HMRL Officials visited the 6 Km stretch between MGBS and Falaknuma. The HMRL officials were led by the Director N. V. S. Reddy who conducted a detailed inspection of the metro stretch.
Mr. Owaisi was part of the inspection and urged the Metro officials to start the construction immediately. Mr. Reddy also assured the people that the work would finish in 2 to 3 days.
