Today, the Congress President Rahul Gandhi took to Twitter saying the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) lost the Madhya Pradesh (MP) polls due to arrogance and misgovernance. Gandhi’s tweet read, “This is a loss for arrogance and misgovernance and a victory for hope. First Rajasthan and now Madhya Pradesh has proven that the prospect of change is knocking at the door.” Gandhi further congratulated the people of MP and the Congress workers for their success in the polls. Gandhi tweeted, “Congratulations to the people of Madhya Pradesh, the voters and the Congress workers, the magnificent victory of Kolaras Mungaoli.”
The Congress MLAs bagged the Kolaras and Mungaoli assembly seats with the highest number of votes in MP. Yesterday, the Congress workers could be seen celebrating their fourth consecutive win the election polls after Ater and Khajuraho constituencies. Earlier, the Congress also bagged the seats in Ajmer and Alwar constituencies, Rajasthan.
In Mungaoli, the BJP’s Bhai Sahab Deshraj Singh Yadav lost to Congress’ Bijendra Singh Yadav with a difference of 2,124 votes. Bijendra Singh bagged 70,808 votes while Bhai Sahab received only 68,684 votes. In Kolaras, the Congress’ Mahendra Singh Yadav won with a huge difference of 8,083 votes. BJP’s Devendra Kumar Jain received 74,432 votes while Mahendra Singh polled 82,515 votes. Kolaras and Mungaoli witnessed a voter turnout of 70 and 77 % respectively. The votes were counted at the Government Industrial Training Institue (ITI) in Kolaras and the Government Nehru Degree College in Mungaoli.
