Revanth Reddy Writes Letter To EC For Disqualification Of TRS MLAs

New Congress Leader A. Revanth Reddy wrote a letter to the Election Commission on Tuesday. The Letter seeks disqualification of 9 Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) MLAs for holding an office of profit.

After news of the letter surfaced, Revanth said, “It is clear in the law that holding an office of profit is illegal. There is no doubt about it. Therefore, on behalf of the Congress party, we will bring this to the Centre’s notice and demand their disqualification.”

The former Telugu Desam Party member cited the disqualification of the Aam Aadmi Party MLAs and said the TRS MLAs should face the same action. In the letter, the Congress member stated the TRS Government violated the norms in appointing them as Parliamentary Secretaries. Adding that they all deserve to be disqualified. Reddy named the 6 TRS MLAs, Jalagam Venkata Rao (Kothagudem,) Gadiri Kishore Kumar (Thungaturthy,) Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar (Warangal West,) V. Srinivas Gowd (Mahbub-nagar,) and V. Satish Kumar (Husnabad) all were appointed as Parliamentary Secretaries in 2014.

Reddy explained that despite this the TRS Government appointed three more MLAs Somarapu Satyana-rayana, Rasamai Balakishen and Vemula Prashanth Reddy. They were appointed to act as chairman of councils and corporations that gives them a Cabinet Minister status, salary and perks. These positions are considered folding an office of profit said Reddy.
