Hyderabad: While the students are enjoying their summer vacation, the Telangana government is busy preparing a report for the Supreme Court regarding 4,000 government schools with poor enrollment which are ready to be closed down this year.
The panel rapped the TS government last month for its proposal to close more than 400 schools and an expert panel is appointed to tour TS to find out the reasons.
The expert panel started its two-day tour of the districts on Thursday. The Telangana government is trying to help Supreme Court panel in which that it wants to close over 4,000 schools which have poor enrollment as it has became economically unable to run them, and take up clubbing of schools this year to increase enrollment in the remaining schools.
As per data gathered by the school education department, there are 12,178 schools in the state which have enrolment of less than 60 students. These schools need to be clubbed with nearby schools to make them viable, which will lead to the closure of 4,481 schools.
