Telangana conducted its Assembly elections, on Friday. A total of 1,821 candidates participated in the elections for 119 Assembly seats, out of which 19 are reserved for Scheduled Castes (SC) and 12 for Scheduled Tribes (ST.)
The major parties which contested the Telangana elections were the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS,) the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP,) the All India Majlis e Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) and the grand alliance (Prajakutami or the people’s alliance) comprising the Congress party, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP,) the Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) and the Communist Party of India (CPI.)
Various sources conducted surveys about the exit polls, revealing their predictions about the party which will come to power in Telangana.
According to the survey by NDTV, the TRS will remain in power in Telangana. As per the survey, the TRS is predicted to win the Telangana elections with a majority of 67 seats. The Prajakutami will secure 39 seats. The BJP will win 5 seats and other parties such as the AIMIM and the independent candidates will hold 8 seats.
The survey conducted by Times Now CNX suggests, TRS will have control over Telangana with 66 seats and the Prajakutami will win 37 seats. The BJP is expected to win 7 seats and other parties such as the AIMIM and the independent candidates will secure 9 seats in total.
The India Today survey states, the TRS will win with a majority of 79 to 91 seats. The Prajakutami will secure 21 to 33 seats and the BJP will secure 1 to 3 seats. Other parties such as the AIMIM are predicted to win 4 to 7 seats.
The Republic C Voter predicted, the competition between the TRS and the Prajakutami will be tough. The TRS is predicted to secure 48 to 60 seats and the Prajakutami 47 to 59 seats. The BJP is expected to win 5 seats and the other parties, 1 to 13 seats.
The surveys were conducted after the elections took place on the 7th of December in Telangana.
The results of the Telangana Assembly elections will be announced on the 11th of December.
