The fastest network till date in India is 4G LTE which is carried by most of the telecom operators in the country. 5G is the next generation mobile network which is all set to provide higher internet speed.

Airtel, the largest telecom operator of India has recently announced a partnership with Nokia, which has planned a strategic roadmap to roll out 5G services in the Country. The companies, in partnership, have also planned to bring to our Country the Internet of Things (IoT.)

The collaboration has also led to the decision of strengthening of 4G network across the country. This includes power, cost effectiveness and even operations so as to provide the best quality and reliability. 5G, once introduced in India can provide the speed of up to 1 GBPS for both download and upload.

Abhay Savargaonkar, the Director of Network Services India and South Asia for Bharti Airtel, released a statement saying, “The 5G and IoT applications have tremendous potential to transform lives and we are pleased to partner with Nokia to enable these future technologies for our customers.”

But it is not just Airtel that plans to bring 5G to India, Reliance Jio and Samsung have joined hands to roll out 5G in India. Youngky Kim, President and Head of Networks Business at Samsung Electronics, in a statement, said, “The massive deployment of over a million cells across India is especially remarkable. We will strive to create new paradigms for LTE-Advanced Pro and 5G by closely cooperating with Jio as a unified workforce.”

The initial chip design of 5G was finished in October 2016 at the international level and has been in use since December. The launch plan for 5G in India by any telecom industry has not yet been decided.
