Tim Cook, the CEO of Apple Inc., launched iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus yesterday in San Francisco. The sleek jet black duo will be featuring new advanced camera systems, more power and performance with the best battery life in an iPhone up till now, immersive stereo speakers, wide color system from camera to display and water and dust resistance.
The iPhone 7 comes with a 4.7-inch Retina HD IPS display with 1,134 x 750 resolution at 326 ppi (pixels per inch). The larger iPhone 7 Plus comes with a 5.5-inch Retina HD IPS screen with 1,920 x 1,080 resolution at 401 ppi. The new camera is comprised of a new 6-element lens which helps take even better photos in low-light situations. They are also a lot faster to autofocus and shoot, with the capability of capturing photos with bokeh (blurred out backgrounds) with shallower depth of field.
Apart from this, the tantalizing part is the absence of headphone jacks. For the first time ever, iPhone has done away with the headphones part. Apple’s new EarPods headphones will connect through the Lightning connector port; you’ll also get an adaptor in the box. Apple’s also pushing for the new, funky-looking AirPods headset connect wirelessly through auto-pairing.
The iPhone 7 will come in three storage models: 32GB ($649), 128GB ($749) and 256GB ($849). The iPhone 7 Plus also comes in the same storage models: 32GB ($769), 128GB ($869) and 256GB ($969).
But as usual, there has been a tirade of criticism, mainly because again there hasn’t been any major change in this series of phone that has retained its designed device more or less the same since its inception. The new iPhone will look and act almost exactly like the current iPhone to any normal person. It will probably be a little faster and come in a new color choices.
But only time will tell if this water and dust resistance device will resist the reproach. Pre-orders start on Sept. 9 and devices ship on Sept. 16
