Google Doodle Celebrates Nargis Dutt’s 86th Birth Anniversary

Google Doodle is celebrating the 86th birth anniversary of India’s most iconic Bollywood actress Nargis Dutt on Monday. In the place of Google logo, a beautiful sketch of yesteryear actress Nargis holding dupatta with both hands has been featured.

Fatima Rashid, popularly known as Nargis Dutt, was born in 1929 and made her debut as a child artist in 1935 in “Talash-E-Haq”. She earned stardom in 1942 with “Tamanna”. She was a part of several super hit films including “Mother India”, “Awara”, “Shree 420”, “Barsaat” and others.

She delivered an iconic performance in “Mother India”, for which she won the Filmfare Best Actress Award. The film was also first Indian movie to be nominated for an Academy Award in the Best Foreign Language Film category. She was also honoured with the most prestigious award ‘Padma Shri’ in 1958.

She married Sunil Dutt and the couple had three children – Sanjay Dutt, Namrata Dutt and Priya Dutt. Nargis passed away due to pancreatic cancer at the age of 51.
