Lenovo Plans To Set Up Its Manufacturing Unit In India

In a major boost to ‘Make In India’ initiative, leading smartphone maker, Lenovo is looking at all possibilities towards setting up a manufacturing unit in India. With many foreign players that include some big names like Samsung, and even iPhone maker Foxconn are coming forward to set up their manufacturing plants in India, Lenovo is the latest entrant to join this list.

The company has already established its computer manufacturing unit in Puducherry.

Lenovo has considerably increased the sales of their smartphone in the country with all its latest releases fetching it a good amount of market share. With this move, it is clear that the Chinese electronics major intends to aggressively promote the sales of its smartphones as well.

“We are exploring the opportunity of setting up a manufacturing unit in the country. We believe that 4G LTE will be the dominant technology in the years to come,”  Bhaskar Choudhuri, Director (Marketing) of Lenovo India said.
