Hyderabad: The All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) has introduced a green internship program to nurture environmental consciousness among students and transform educational institutions into green campuses. Targeting one lakh students by 2030, this program aligns with the global shift towards a green economy, projected to create 24 million jobs by 2030 according to the International Labor Organization (ILO), with over 8 million of these roles emerging in developing countries.
In collaboration with the Green Skills Academy and Salesforce, AICTE aims to provide students with hands-on experience in implementing sustainable practices. Interns will focus on converting AICTE-accredited colleges into green campuses by performing carbon emission audits, promoting zero-waste policies, conserving water, and finding ways to reuse resources and manage electronic waste. Industry experts will mentor interns, guiding them through the sustainability strategies needed for a green economy.
Key Highlights:
- Eligibility: Students from AICTE-accredited institutions in fields like Engineering, Management, and Pharmacy.
- Goal: 1 lakh internships by 2030, with 10,000 planned for 2024-25.
- Application: Students can apply via the AICTE Internship Portal.
