Hyderabad: The Congress party has announced its MLC candidates under the MLA quota, prioritizing loyalty and social justice in the selection process. The party has finalized tickets for Adnaki Dayakar (SC), Ketawat Shankarnaik (ST), and Vijayashanti (BC). Congress National General Secretary KC Venugopal made the announcement on Sunday, stating that the names were approved by party president Mallikarjuna Kharge.

The MLC elections will be held for five seats, of which Congress is set to win four, based on its MLA strength in the Telangana Legislative Assembly. As part of the alliance agreement, one of these seats has been allocated to the CPI, fulfilling a promise made during the 2023 Assembly elections. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will secure one seat.

Breaking from the convention of reserving an MLC seat for the OC category, Congress has prioritized SC, ST, and BC representation. PCC President Mahesh Kumar Goud emphasized that the party remains committed to the upliftment of marginalized communities. The MLC elections are expected to be unanimous, with nominations closing on March 13 and results becoming official soon after.
