Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Pradesh Congress (APPC) President YS Sharmila has called for the cancellation of power purchase agreements (PPAs) signed by former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy with the Adani Group. In a letter to current Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Sharmila alleged that these deals have imposed a massive financial burden on the state.
Sharmila claimed that the agreements would cost the people of Andhra Pradesh ₹1.5 lakh crore over the coming years, describing them as illegal and detrimental to the state’s economy. She demanded an investigation into the alleged “midnight clearances” involved in finalizing these deals.
Further, Sharmila urged the government to blacklist the Adani Group and sought a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry or a probe by a sitting judge to uncover any irregularities. She also questioned the handing over of Gangavaram Port to the Adani Group, calling for a thorough investigation into the matter.
Sharmila emphasized that decisive action is necessary to prevent the state’s resources and finances from being exploited. Her demand adds to the ongoing scrutiny over high-profile deals involving the Adani Group and their potential impact on public welfare.
