Former Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) and the Guntur district president of the YSRCP, Dokka Manikya Varaprasad, dealt a significant blow to the party by resigning on Friday, just ahead of the assembly elections. Expressing discontent with the party’s internal affairs, Dokka was particularly disheartened by the allocation of the Tadikonda assembly seat. Despite harboring aspirations for the seat himself, he was disappointed when the party awarded the ticket to former Home Minister Mekathoti Sucharita instead.

Varaprasad was born at Gurajala and served as a minister in the Congress party government. He has a strong hold in Guntur district and is known for his gentle and humble behavior. He left TDP in 2020 and joined YSRCP.

Dokka’s resignation underscores the challenges and tensions within the YSRCP as it navigates the complexities of candidate selection and electoral strategies leading up to the upcoming polls.
