Top celebs join Jallikattu protests rally!

Top Tamil stars like Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Ajith, Suriya, Dhanush and most of the film fraternity joined the silent protests in the T Nagar with the youngsters of Tamil Nadu for conducting Jallikattu. The gathering is at South Indian Artists Association(SIAA) headquarters of T Nagar.

The president of SIAA, popularly known as ‘Nadigar Sangam’ Nasser, was leading the silent protest. He was accompanied by the general secretary Vishal, Treasurer In Charge, Karthi and Vice President Ponnavan. All the movie theatres in the State have remained shut with all the unions showing their support to the protest.

While most of the big names were present, Actor Silambarasan Simbhu, who in the last week extended his support to the sport and appealed through a video to come out on to the streets and protest, was absent at the silent protest. Other actors present at the protest were Sivakumar, Bagyaraj, Sathyaraj, Santhanam, Sivakarthikeyan, Ramesh Khanna, A.R.  Rahman, Trisha, Shalini and Kovai Sarala and many more.

While addressing the protesters Nasser said, “A symbol of the age old Tamil culture is under threat. Students and youth have taken it upon themselves the task of rescuing the sport. They have attracted children and women to the protests. The South Indian Artistes Association wholeheartedly supports the protests. We are holding a silent protest to show solidarity. The actors are not going to make any statements. We will stand by and watch the real heroes – the youth – continue the protest.”

While the SC is yet to lift the ban, the PM has given a green signal and CM Paneerselvan said that they will pass an ordinance in two days about conducting Jallikattu.
