Gyan Dev Ahuja, a Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) of Rajasthan, quit the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP,) on Sunday afternoon. He resigned as the BJP refused to give him a ticket to contest the Rajasthan polls and represent his desired constituency, Sanganer.

Mr. Ahuja, upset with the BJP, decided to contest the Rajasthan Assembly elections as an independent candidate.

Gyan Dev Ahuja said, “My name was dropped by the party without taking me into confidence. I was not even told about the reason why my name was dropped. After pressure from my supporters and family members, I resigned from the party. I will now contest the elections from Sanganer seat.”

Mr. Ahuja filed his nominations today for the Sanganer constituency. He will start his campaign from today onward. Mr. Ahuja said, his agenda throughout the campaign will focus on ‘gau raksha’ (cow protection) and the construction of a Ram temple in Ayodhya.

The three lists declared by the BJP disappointed many party leaders, who later resigned from the party.

The BJP announced 170 candidates so far who will be contesting the upcoming Rajasthan polls. All the parties and candidates will contest a total of 200 Assembly seats.

The Rajasthan Assembly elections are scheduled on the 7th of December and the results will be declared on the 11th of December.
