The nation recalled the terrific 26/11, the Mumbai Terror Attack, happened on 26th of November 2008. The 13 years old 26/11 terror attack which left the entire nation in shock, is still fresh in the minds of people.

In the remembrance of the victims and the officers who lost their lives in the terror attack, political leaders, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President of India Ram Nath Kovind and union ministers paid tributes.

Social media platforms like Twitter, Instagram and Facebook also witnessed a bunch of messages and tweets of gratitude and homage to the victims and security personnel who fought the 26/11 terror attack. Several hashtags have been trending since the past few hours on social media platforms.

Mr. Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister said, “मुंबई 26/11 आतंकी हमलों में जान गंवाने वालों को भावपूर्ण श्रद्धांजलि देता हूँ और उन सभी सुरक्षाकर्मियों के साहस को सलाम करता हूं, जिन्होंने कायरतापूर्ण हमलों में आतंकवादियों का डटकर सामना किया। पूरे देश को आपकी वीरता पर गर्व रहेगा। कृतज्ञ राष्ट्र सदैव आपके बलिदान का ऋणी रहेगा।”

He said, “On the 13th anniversary of the November 26th terror attack on Mumbai, we remember the innocent lives we lost. My tributes to everyone who lost their lives in those attacks. Our security forces displayed exemplary courage during 26/11 attacks. I salute their bravery & sacrifice.”

Mr. Rahul Gandhi, the former President of the Indian National Congress (INC) said, “सीमा पर कठिन मौसम में परिवार से दूर रहकर देश की रक्षा करता है।

What was the 26/11 incident?

A Pakistan based terrorist group, Lashkar e Taiba (LeT,) spread violence and terror in Mumbai, the financial hub of India. Approximately 166 people were killed in the attack and many were injured. The families who lost their loved ones are still waiting for justice against the 10 armed men who were responsible for the attack. Of the 10 terrorists behind the 26/11 attack, 9 terrorists were killed and the lone survivor, Ajmal Amir Kasab, was caught and sentenced to death at Yerwada Central Jail in Pune in 2012.

The Jamaat-ud-Dawah (JuD), whose mastermind was Hafiz Saeed, was believed to have plotted the 26/11 attacks. The ghastly attacks, which began on the 26th of November 26, 2008, lasted for four days in several locations including Taj Mahal hotel, the Oberoi hotel, the Leopold Cafe, the Nariman (Chabad) House, and the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus train station.
