Today Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Global Investors Summit 2018 titled Advantage Assam. This will be Assam’s first global investor’s summit which will focus on showcasing its manufacturing opportunities and geostrategic advantages to investors from all over the world.
Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal was quoted saying, “So far, 4,500 delegates have registered for participation that include representatives from 16 countries. Prime Minister of Bhutan Tshering Tobgay has already arrived while industrialists like Mukesh Ambani and Ratan Tata are expected to attend the summit.”
The two day event will give Assam the opportunity to show off their manufacturing prowess in attempts to catch the eye of valuable investors. Roadshows were held in Delhi, Toronto, New York, San Francisco, Seoul, Singapore, Mumbai, Kolkata, Tokyo to attract investors to the Summit.
The Summit Nodal officer A. P. Tiwari said, “The objective of the Summit is to position Assam as India’s Expressway to ASEAN. Advantage Assam will be the largest ever investment promotion and facilitation initiative by the Government of Assam.”
Tiwari further added, “Besides, the summit will showcase the opportunities offered by the State in terms of export oriented manufacturing and services to ASEAN and BBN countries.”
He further explained that Assam is not at the periphery but instead in the center of this vast economy of the Southeast Asian market. The Assam Government understand the importance of smooth flowing business to attract the attention of international and national investors.
