The headquarters of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) at the MGR Maaligai, Chennai, Tamil Nadu was reopened on the 21st of July.
Notably, the AIADMK office was sealed on the 11th of July, amid the violence that broke out between supporters of then-rival AIADMK leaders Mr. K. Palaniswami and Mr. O. Panneerselvam. The clashes between the two leaders broke out amid the single leadership of the AIADMK party.
The Revenue Authorities of Chennai announced to seal the AIADMK office, which finally reopened on the 21st of July, after the directions of the Madras High Court.
On the 20th of July, the Madras High Court reviewed a petition filed by Mr. K. Palaniswami demanding the reopening of the office. The Madras HC single bench comprising Justice Satish Kumar passed an order and directed the Revenue District Officer (RDO) to hand over its keys to the latter.
Furthermore, the Madras HC bench also directed the Royapettah police to provide adequate protection to the office located on Avvai Shanmugam Sala, round-the-clock.
In addition, the Madras High Court also asked that no party cadres should be allowed inside the office for one month to avoid any untoward incident.
