The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav in a rally asked the Bollywood Megastar Amitabh Bachchan “don’t advertise for the donkeys of Gujarat”. The CM without taking any name referred to the advertisement in which Amitabh who is the brand ambassador of Gujarat Tourism invites the tourists to visit Wild Ass Sanctuary located in Little Rann of Kutch in Gujarat.

The CM said, “Ek gadhe ka vigyapan aata hai. Main iss sadi ke sabse bade mahanayak se kahunga ke ab aap Gujarat ke gadhon ka prachar mat kariye (There’s an ad on TV which shows donkeys. I appeal to century’s biggest star, please stop endorsing the donkeys of Gujarat).” Yadav quizzed the audience, “What will happen if the donkeys also start getting advertised?”

These comments came as the parties are nearing the end of elections in state polls before the 2019 Union elections. Reacting to the comments, BJP’s Venkaiah Naidu said, “Wo disturb hoke aise bhasha ka istemaal kar rahe hain,Gujarat ka janta ka apmaan kar rahe hain, beech mein donkey kaha se aaya(He is disturbed that’s why he is making such statements and insulting the people of Gujarat. How did a donkey turn up in this discussion?)”

PM Modi speaking at the Fatehpur rally.

In the recent past, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi showed confidence in the BJP-Apna Dal alliance to form next UP government. He also said that Congress and BSP were “merely trying to salvage what was left of their face”. The PM also mocked SP – Congress alliance and said: “27 saal, UP behaal.” He remarked about the slogan that, “those who were lamenting about the state’s plight have ended up joining hands with the ones who they blamed for the current state of affairs”. The PM in an attempt to strike personal rapport said, “I am a member of Parliament from UP but all my efforts to serve the state have been negated by the SP government”. The PM also said that the country would have been different, had Sardar Patel been its first Prime Minister.

The comments by the CM did not sit well the people of Gujarat and can be considered insulting!
