The United States of America (U.S.A.,) President Mr. Joe Biden confirmed that the Al Qaeda (a militant outfit) Chief Mr. Ayman Al Zawahiri has been killed in a US strike in Afghanistan, on the 2nd of August.
Al-Zawahiri, 71, became the chief of Al-Qaida, a militant outfit, after the militant group’s founder Osama bin Laden was killed. Osama Bin Laden was killed in a US operation in Pakistan in 2011. Taking Twitter Mr. Joe Biden said, “Justice has been delivered.” He further said, “This terrorist leader is no more.”
Biden said that he hoped al-Zawahiri’s killing brings “one more measure of closure” to families of the victims of the September 11, 2001 attacks.
It is to be noted, that the US carried out the strike recently, but information about the deceased and others was delayed. The information regarding the strike that happened in Afghanistan was released on the late evening of the 1st of August.
Notably, during the US Operation, no civilians were hurt and besides terrorists, no one was killed. The operation was approved by the United States of America President Joe Biden in the last week, following which the strike was conducted during the weekend, the 30th and the 31st of July.
Furthermore, Ayman Al Zawahiri is one of the masterminds of the September 2011 incident, which killed over 3,000 US citizens.
