Amit Shah, the Home Minister of India, assured help from the Central Government for the precaution from Super Cyclone Amphan.

Amphan, with a speed of 250 Kmph from the Bay of Bengal is moving towards West Bengal and Odisha.  While Odisha is on high alert from the 19th of May, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) alerted West Bengal, as the cyclone would hit the State on the 20th of May.

In regard to this, Mr. Shaha spoke to Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal and Naveen Patnaik, the Chief Minister of Odisha assuring help.

 In a telephonic conversation, Mr. Shah said, “The central government is with you.” 

Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba also conducted a meeting with the National Crisis Monitoring Committee (NCMC) to discuss the precaution measures for Amphan.

Odisha, Meghalaya and West Bengal are on high alert since the 19th of May.
