Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, during a public rally in Midnapore criticised the Trinamool Congress (TMC) President Mamata Banerjee.

Mr. Shah on the 19th of December, arrived at West Bengal and scheduled activities for the upcoming 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections.

The Bharatiya Janata Party ( BJP) leader Amit Shah during the Midnapore public rally said, “You gave three decades to Congress, 27 years to Communists and 10 years to Mamata didi. Give 5 years to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), we will make Bengal Sonar Bangla”.

On desertions from the TMC, the Home Minister said, “By the time elections arrive, Mamata Banerjee will be left alone in the party.” Mr. Shah further added, “Mamata didi says the BJP takes people from other parties. I want to remind her of her days in Congress. You [Mamata Banerjee] did the same when you left Congress and made TMC. When people of Bengal are coming with BJP to transform the state of Bengal, why is she worried? This is just the beginning. These people are leaving your party wilfully. Didi has changed it into appeasement, family fiefdom and tolabaazi. People do not get central government benefits.”

Mr. Shah concluded the rally and asked people, “I want to ask the youth of Bengal – What is your fault? Why is there no development in Bengal? I want to ask the farmers of Bengal – Why are you not receiving the ₹6,000 annually that is being sent by PM Modi?”

Amit Shah and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader is on a two day visit to West Bengal.

Dilip Ghosh, the President of the BJP in West Bengal is supervising all the arrangements of the Central leader’s visit.

Mr. Ghosh also said from now onwards, J.P. Nadda, the National President of the BJP and Union Minister Amit Shah would visit West Bengal every month.

The upcoming visits would be in the wake of the West Bengal Assembly elections due in April-May 2021. The BJP is eying the West Bengal elections to secure a hold in the State.

The State would contest for 294 Assembly seats.
