On Monday, a non-bailable arrest warrants have been issued against the former Bollywood actress Mamta Kulkarni and international drug lord Vijay Giri alias Vicky Goswami. The investigators probing into the case have approached a special court of H.M. Patwardhan who issued this arrest warrant.

The sleuths claimed to have ‘clinching evidence’ against the accused and have filed a charge sheet. The duo have been absconding from 2016 after their names have come up in a drug bust. The accused Mamta is apparently living in Kenya with her alleged husband Vicky Goswami after absconding. In 2016, the court had ordered the two of them to appear before the judges which they have failed in doing.

The 2002 drug bust, wherein a Rs. 2000 crore drug racket was unearthed by the police in Dubai, and more than ten accused have been arrested so far in the country. Mamta and her husband Vicky were accused in the same. In a video posted in 2016, the actress denied all the rumors and claimed to not have any connections with the drug bust.

This statement has been deemed false by the court and said that if she does not appear before the court and surrender along with Vicky Goswami, she will be declared a fugitive. Mamata and Vicky who operated from Dubai are also accused of illegal trade of narcotics to Morocco and Colombia. Vicky Goswami was arrested in this case in Dubai but was later released for lack of evidence. Now with adequate evidence, the Indian court has issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against the two.
