The Income Tax (IT) Raid at the BBC offices in Mumbai and Delhi, continued for a third consecutive day, on the 16th of February, Thursday.
On Thursday, the teams of IT officials continued their searches at the BBC offices with the cooperation of all the staff, who are working from the office. The searches were carried out on the 14th of February, Tuesday, amid allegations of tax evasion by the BBC offices in India’s metro cities. The employees working at the Delhi and Mumbai offices of BBC did not even go home, spending sleepless nights at the premises and cooperating with the IT officials, answering their questions, related to the BBC income.
It is to be noted, the IT raids started amid the ongoing controversy over the recent BBC documentary highlighting PM Narendra Modi and his role in the 2002 Gujarat Riots. The Union Government called the documentary propaganda to tarnish the image of the BJP and said the facts and information were manipulative. Furthermore, the Union Government and the External Affairs Ministry of India also banned the documentary from all OTT platforms and social media sites.
The IT searches at the BBC offices are still underway.
