On the 28th of March, India is witnessing a nationwide strike, against the Central Government. 

A joint forum of Central trade unions, supported by the All India Bank Employees Association, has called for a nationwide strike on the 28th and 29th of March.  The  Bharat Bandh has been called against the anti farmer, anti labor and anti people policies, including privatization of public sectors in India.

Roadways, Railways and electricity sector workers also decided to join the strike, which could affect the services, troubling the general public.  Furthermore, industries, banks and public transport are also expected to be shut for the strike.

In addition, the unions in the railways and defense sectors also carried out mass mobilization in support of the strike at several hundreds of spots, which was also supported by workers from various other sectors such as coal, steel, oil, telecom, postal, income tax, copper, and insurance.

Meanwhile, the Country’s largest lender State Bank of India (SBI) has said that banking services may get affected due to the strike.  The statement issued by the SBI read, “We advise that while the bank has made necessary arrangements to ensure normal functioning in its branches and offices on the days of strike, it is likely that work in our bank may be impacted to a limited extent, by the strike.” 

Various union trades like the Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC,) the All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC,) the Center of Indian Trade Unions (CITU,) the Hind Mazdoor Sabha (HMS,) the TRSKV, the International Federation of Trade Unions (IFTU,)  the Telugu Nadu Trade Union Council (TNTUC,) All India United Trade Union Center (AIUTUC,)  Railways, Bank and Airports trade unions. 

Furthermore, the PSUs Trade Unions, Telangana Convener Mr. V. Danakarna Chari, the State  Coordinator Mr.  L. Roop Singh and leaders of various trade unions inTelangana, also extended their support to the Central Traders.
