The Indian National Congress (INC) led Bharat Jodo Yatra is close to its conclusion and is scheduled to celebrate its closing ceremony in Jammu and Kashmir.

Mr. Rahul Gandhi, the former President of the INC, led the Bharat Jodo Yatra, raising his voice against the misrule of Mr. Narendra Modi led Central Government.  The yatra which started on the 9th of September, from Kanyakumari, officially completed its 135 days in Kashmir.

For the winning celebration, the INC organised a grand rally at Sher I Kashmir Cricket Stadium.  However, heavy snowfall in Kashmir’s Srinagar might dampen the celebratory spirit of the closing ceremony of the pan India foot march Bharat Jodo Yatra, on the 30th of January, Monday.

According to the Jammu and Kashmir Weather Forecast, the region is expected to witness heavy snowfall, which could be a disturbance to the victory celebration and rally of the INC delegation.   The Jammu and Kashmir police has also closed the Srinagar-Jammu national highway and imposed traffic restrictions amid snowfall predictions.

Many opposition leaders who were expected to arrive for the finale of the yatra, led by Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, might not be able to make it.  Low visibility and continuous snowfall even delayed all flights to Srinagar, said Mr. Kuldeep Singh Rishi, Srinagar’s Airport Director.

Considering the situation due to snowfall, the celebration which was supposed to be a grand ceremony with the participation of approximately 21 party leaders, would be a low key affair.  Leaders from only 12 political parties including Mr. M.K. Stalin, Mr. Uddhav Thackeray, Mr. Nitish Kumar, Mr. Akhilesh Yadav and others confirmed to attend the ceremony in Srinagar.

Meanwhile, the Bharat Jodo Yatra, which started its journey from Kanyakumari, officially concluded the yatra in Kashmir, on the 30th of January.  During these 135 days, the Rahul Gandhi led INC delegation covered 3,970 km in 12 states, and two Union territories.

During the yatra, Mr. Rahul Gandhi held over 100 corner meetings, and 13 press conferences and over 275 planned walking interactions with locals and leaders of political parties.  The Bharat Jodo Yatra was said to be a huge success amongst people, establishing the Indian National Congress as a strong party in India.

The pan India march initiative by the Indian National Congress ahead of the 2024 General elections is said to have significant importance amongst the people of India, who not only witnessed the yatra but also had a one on one interaction with the leaders of the INC.
