General Bipin Rawat, the Chief of the Indian Army, on the 23rd of September, said the terror camps in Balakot, Pakistan are active again.

General Rawat said, “Balakot has been reactivated by Pakistan very recently. That shows that Balakot has been affected. It had been damaged and destroyed. And that is why people have got away from there and now it has been reactivated.”  He further added, “…some action had been taken by Indian Air Force and now they have got the people back there.”

General Rawat also said approximately 500 terrorists are planning to infiltrate India.

On the 26th of February, the Indian Air Force conducted airstrikes and destroyed the terror camps situated in Balakot.  The camps were led by the Jaish e Mohammed (JeM,) a terrorist group in Pakistan. The Indian Air Force started the strike around 3:30 A.M., on the 26th of February.  Approximately 12 Mirage 2000 fighter jets flew across the Line of Control (LoC) and dropped 1,000 kilograms of laser guided bombs and destroyed the terror camps situated at the LoC in Balakot.

Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman was also captured by the Pakistani Air Force (PAF) during the airstrikes and was in the custody of the Government of Pakistan for 72 hours.

Wing Cdr. Abhinandan Varthaman was released on the 1st of March.

General Bipin Rawat expressed his confidence and said the Indian Army is ready to face the terrorists.
