On Tuesday, the Home Minister Rajnath Singh slammed Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi’s comments against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for using ‘money power’ to buy MLAs for the formation of Government in Goa and Manipur.

The Home Minister said that “All these allegations (BJP using financial power) are baseless.”

On Tuesday morning, Rahul Gandhi also claimed that BJP was manipulating voters and used the power of money in the recent Assembly elections in five states.

Rahul said, “BJP won elections in UP, I’d like to congratulate them. Why they won, there are multiple reasons, one being polarization. Democracy is being undermined by them using financial power and money.” These remarks came after the Supreme Court refused to put a stay on Manohar Parrikar’s swearing as the CM in Goa and ordered for a floor test for the Bharatiya Janata Party to prove their majority in the Goa State Assembly.

Apart from the Home Minister, the Finance Minister Arun Jaitley also slammed Congress on their issues with BJP forming government in Goa and said that they complain too much. Jaitley in a Facebook post wrote, “The Governor in Goa had only one claim of 21 MLAs out of 40 elected MLAs with Manohar Parrikar as their leader. The 17 MLAs of Congress did not even make a claim nor elected their leader. How could the Congress ever be invited to form the Government?”

BJP has allied with the other parties in Goa and Manipur and showed enough support to form the Government. This did not sit well with the Congress Party leaders who have been relentlessly bashing the BJP’s move in both states and went as far as saying that the party was stealing the elections.
