Hyderabad: Enforcement Directorate (ED) sleuths arrested Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC and former Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s daughter Kalvakuntla Kavitha on Friday. She was arrested in the alleged Delhi liquor scam.
A team of 8 officers under the leadership of joint director cadre officials, conducted inspections at Kavitha’s residence located at Banjara Hills and later arrested her. Kavitha questioned the authorities over the arrest without serving any notice.
ED submitted a 14 pages memo to Kavitha stating the reasons which lead to her arrest. The ED in its report said that the arrest was made following sec (3) of Money Laundering Act. Details related to the arrest were informed to Kavitha’s husband Anil.
Kavitha was shifted to Delhi in a flight from Shamshabad airport. Kavitha said that the center cannot suppress the BRS with false cases and arrests.
Meanwhile, activists of BRS staged protests at Hyderabad city against the arrest of Kavitha. They alleged that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is intentionally harassing the leaders of opposition in the name of corruption. Legal cell of BRS said that the case was pending at the Supreme Court and arrest of Kavitha at this time is definitely a violation.
