In the course of our life, we find stories that sometimes inspire us and sometimes wow us. In one such inspirational wow moment, a 19 year old Ranchi boy, Tushar Rishi, was battling cancer and defeated it.

The youngster was diagnosed with bone cancer in 2014 for which he has been under treatment. In the CBSE result released the last weekend showed the results of his struggles. Rishi scored 95% in the CBSE board exams, which is inspiring! Tushar, in this regard, said, “ I am in much better condition now after all the treatments. But I have to visit the AIIMS every 3 to 4 weeks for checkups and updates on my health.”

Tushar scored 95 in physics, 95 in English, 93 in mathematics, 89 in Computers and 100 in Fine Arts. Tushar also had no extra coaching for his studies. In 2014, Tushar finished his mock tests for Class 10 Board exams when he was diagnosed with bone cancer. He underwent chemotherapy for 11 months. Tushar said “It obviously has changed me a lot. But I also try and stay focused on my studies.” As he was in chemo in 2014, he appeared for exams in 2015 and scored a perfect 10 CGPA.

Tushar also has written a novel based on his experiences called ‘The Patient Patient.’ This documents his journey of discovering the disease and the treatment and how he stayed positive throughout it. Speaking about his journey, Ritu Agarwal, Tushar’s mother and professor at BITS Mesra said, “I have seen him battle cancer and I know how difficult it was for him. I hope he stays healthy and achieves all his goals.”

Tushar’s life is a lesson of bravery and how if there is determination one can achieve their goals, whatever they might be.
