Commercial Flights To Shirdi From July

From July, the much delayed commercial flights will start flying in and out of Shirdi. This information was confirmed by the Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC,) on Monday.

Suresh Kakani, the vice chairman and managing director of MADC said, “By early next month, commercial flight operations should start at the Shirdi Airport with Air India taking the lead. Thereafter, TruJet is also expected to start its operations from here through its Hyderabad to Aurangabad flight.” The MADC officials are also expecting to meet the Airports Authorities of India on June 7 in New Delhi.

The officials of Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said, “Issues related to the Shirdi airport as well as that of the new Pune Airport project will be discussed with the AAI officials during the meeting.” They also added, “As far as the MADC is concerned, we can start operations anytime now as the airport is completely ready. An inspection of the airport will be conducted this week.”

The officials also said they have expansion plans for airport. They also said that currently, however, they are concentrating on starting flight operations from Shirdi Airport. Devendra Fadnavis, the Chief Minister of Maharastra said the Shirdi Airport expansion will be carried out in coordination with the Changi Airport of Singapore and its authorities.
