Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on the 3rd of April, took to Twitter and shared a video message and addressed the Nation. 

Sharp at 9:00 A.M., Mr. Modi shared the video and praised Indians for following the lockdown strictly. This was the second message to the Nation after the 14 hours Janata Curfew, held on the 22nd of March.

In the 11 minute 34 second video, PM Modi praised every citizen of India for coping with  the lockdown with discipline,motivation and responsibility. He said, the fight against the Novel Coronavirus and the efforts of people being at home, showing the unity of India is commendable.   

Speaking about the 21 day lockdown, PM Modi said, “Some people must be thinking how one can fight alone and how many more days to go being self quarantined. Remember we all are in our homes, and are together in this, we are together as individuals, following social distancing and lockdown with discipline. We have to cut through coronavirus pandemic darkness and move to a brighter tomorrow. We have to support the less privileged ones to survive.” 

Narendra Modi consoled the people of India and said, they are not alone in this.  India is one and all are together fighting the COVID-19.

Mr. Modi also said how countries like the United States of America (U.S.A.,) Italy and the World Health Organisation (WHO) are praising Janata Curfew and Indians for extending gratitude to the doctors, security staff and others who are providing services by clapping for them.  He said, “The way you paid gratitude to people fighting against Covid-19on March 22 has become a model that is being emulated by other countries. Janata curfew and ringing of bells/clanging utensils, made the country aware of its unity amid this challenging time.”

Concluding his video,  Narendra Modi highlighted the poor class of the society, who are suffering the most due to the pandemic situation.   He asked all the citizens of India who could afford and help these poor people during the pandemic situation.

In the end of the video, Mr. Modi urged the citizens of India to once again gather together on the 5th of April and light a candle, diya,   flash lights, torch for 9 minutes.   

Mr.  Modi said, on the 5th of April, at 9:00 P.M., every citizen of India should turn off all the lights of their homes and come to their house doors and balconies to light the candle or flash lights for 9 minutes.

However, he urged the citizens not to be on roads and gather in groups like they did in the 22nd March Janata Curfew.  Mr. Modi asked people to strictly follow social distancing, as this is the only key to be safe from the pandemic illness, COVID-19.

The Novel Coronavirus infected 2,552 people, out of which 2,289 are active cases, 191 recovered and 71 died till date.
