Delhi Assembly Elections – Sanjay Singh of AAP Demands Arrest Of UP CM Yogi Adityanath

Sanjay Singh, a Member of Parliament (MP) of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP,) on the 2nd of February, called for the arrest of Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh (U.P.)

Sanjay Singh alleged CM Yogi Adityanath of linking Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi and the President of the AAP, to Pakistan.

During a public rally on the 1st of February, Yogi Adityanath, one of the star campaigners of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Delhi, said, “This shows he doesn’t trust the people of Delhi. He is asking his masters in Pakistan to tell Imran Khan’s minister to issue a statement in his support.”  Yogi Adityanath also accused Arvind Kejriwal of supporting “protesters at Shaheen Bagh who chant pro Pakistan slogans.”

Sanjay Singh said, “Yogi Adityanath says Kejriwal has links to Pakistan. Yogi should be arrested, jailed and should be asked to provide proof for his claims. (The) Election Commission is silent on all this, his campaigning should be banned in Delhi.”

The Legal Cell of the AAP even registered a complaint with the Election Commission (EC) of Delhi, saying Yogi Adityanath violated the Model Code of Conduct (MCC.)

In the letter written to the EC of Delhi, the AAP said, “We call upon EC to impose ban on Yogi Adityanath’s election campaign till election is over, and register FIR against him (sic.)”

The EC did not respond to the complaint yet.

Delhi is scheduled to conduct its Assembly elections on the 8th of February, whereas the results would be announced on the 11th of February.

The major parties contesting the elections are the AAP, the BJP and the Indian National Congress (INC.)

Stay tuned for further updates.
