Delhi: Five Arrested For Assault On Africans

New Delhi: On Sunday, the police arrested five persons in connection with the attack on Africans in Delhi. The attackers were identified as Om Prakash, Ajay, Rahul, Babu and a juvenile. According to police, on Thursday night, six people were injured in three different incidents in Mehrauli. One from Uganda and the other from South Africa and at least two Nigerian men are among the complainants.

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj reacted to the incident. In a series of tweets, she said,” I have spoken to Shri Raj Nath Singhji and Lt. Governor Delhi regarding the attack on African nationals in South Delhi yesterday. They assured me that the culprits will be arrested soon and sensitization campaign will be launched in areas where African nationals reside.”

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh also condemned the attack and has spoken to “CP Delhi regarding the incident of physical assault against certain African nationals in New Delhi.”
