Farmers In Punjab Called For Black Diwali Protest Over Three Agriculture Farms

The farmers of Punjab called for protest and decided to witness ‘Black Diwali’ on the 14th of November.

In the wake of the continued deadlock between the Central Government and Punjab’s farmer unions, the protesting farmers announced to observe ‘black Diwali’ against the ‘black’ agricultural laws.

BKU Ekta Protest members in a statement said, “We will light mashals (torches) on Diwali night as a sign of our sangharsh (protest),”

The Punjab Government also supported the farmers and welcomed the positive spirit in which the farmers’ unions.

The Centre held discussions on the imbroglio over the farm laws and other related issues.

Terming it a constructive development, the Chief Minister said the meeting had, for the first time, enabled the two sides to talk in an open environment and hoped it would pave the way for breaking the stalemate on the issue.

Captain Amrinder Gill, the Chief Minister of Punjab said, the farmer unions’ internal discussions on the 18th of November, ahead of another meeting with the Central government on the 21st of November would hopefully be successful.
