On Thursday, Forbes released its list of the wealthiest Indians in the world and surprise, surprise Mukesh Ambani remained number one for the tenth straight year. The Reliance Industries Chief’s net worth is $ 38 billion that amounts to Rs. 2.5 lakh crores.

The second on the list is Wipro’s Azim Premji with less than half of Ambani’s net worth at $ 19 billion. Premji was ranked fourth last year and with his net worth rise jumped up two spots.

On Forbes magazine’s annual ‘India Rich List 2017’ Dilip Shanghvi from Sun Pharma who was originally ranked number two fell down to the ninth spot.

Forbes reported that PM Modi’s “economic experiments” have not affected the billionaires of India. But Ambani was the only one who looks like he profited from the economic drop of the country after his net worth shot up 67% in just a year putting him among the top 5 richest men in Asia.

The magazine reported, “India’s turbocharged economy sputtered in the quarter ended in June as it grew at a three year low of 5.7 percent, due to the aftershocks of last November’s Demonetization and uncertainties over the roll out of a nationwide Goods and Services Tax. Despite this, the stock market scaled new heights and boosted the fortunes of the nation’s 100 richest.”

The Hinduja brothers took the third spot on the list with $ 18.4 billion while the fourth position was given to Lakshmi Mittal with $ 16.5 billion.

The entire list that consists of 100 people are all billionaires, a minimum of $ 1.46 billion net worth is required to make this list.
