GoI Announces New All India Tourist Permit Scheme, Will Boost Tourism Sector In India

The Central Government is going to provide all India tourist permits to operators like travel agencies, travel vehicles and others.  The decision was taken by the Union Ministry of Road and Transport Highway (MoRTH,) on the 14th of March. 

This all India tourist permit would be a boost to the tourism industry of India, which suffered during the nationwide lockdown due to the Novel Coronavirus pandemic. Called as ‘All India Tourist Vehicles Authorization and Permit Rules, 2021’ the new rule would also increase the revenue of respective states in the tourism sector.

The permit would be provided to operators within 30 days of online application submission.  The MoRTH said, “All India Tourist Authorization/Permit” would be given through online mode after relevant documents are submitted and fees for the same were deposited. 

The Ministry in a statement said, “Moreover, the scheme allows flexibility in the form of authorization/permit being granted, for a period of three months or its multiples thereof, not exceeding three years at a time.”  The statement further read, “This provision has been incorporated keeping in mind those areas of the Country where there is a limited season of tourism and also for those operators who have limited financial capacity.  The step comes in the context of the travel and tourism industry in our country increasing manifold in the last fifteen years.”

The step with all the data of tourism would also give a scope for improvement, promotion of tourism in India. 

The necessary arrangements regarding the new scheme would be done in the coming days.  In addition, the new rules would be in effect from  the 1st of April, 2021.
