Now, people can link their Aadhaar Card With PAN Card till March 2022.
On the 17th of September, the Government of India (GoI) announced an extension to the deadline of the linking of the Aadhaar Card and the PAN Card. Initially the deadline was till the 31st of September, which has now been increased by six more months, till March 2022.
On Friday evening, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) released an official notification regarding the same. The released statement read, “Time limit for intimation of Aadhaar number to the Income tax Department for linking of PAN with Aadhaar has been extended from 30th September, 2021 to 31st March, 2022.”
In addition, the Union Government also extended the due date for completion of penalty proceedings under the Income Tax (IT) Act from the 30th of September 2021 to the 31st of March 2022.
Besides these, the time limit for issuance of notice and passing of orders by the Adjudicating Authority under the Prohibition of Benami Property Transactions Act, 1988 has also been extended to the 31st of March 2022.
The CBDT order regarding the same read, “Further, the time limit for issuance of notice and passing of order by the Adjudicating Authority under the Prohibition of Benami Property Transactions Act, 1988 has also been extended to 31st March, 2022.”
The decision to extend the deadline was taken after considering the hardship faced by various stakeholders during the Wuhah virus pandemic. With the increased deadline, the pressure to complete the linkage would ease.
