Guwahati-Bikaner Express Derails Near Domohani, West Bengal, Kills 3 And Leaves 20 Injured

On January 13, at least 12 coaches of Guwahati-Bikaner Express derailed near Domohani egion, West Bengal. According to ANI, many people from Assam were traveling in the train, which derailed at 5:00 pm. Indian Railways informed and said, “DRM and ADRM rushed to the site along with accident relief train and medical van”. Furthermore, a high level railway commissioner safety inquiry has been ordered in the accident.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, assured help and support to the people , injured in the incident.

Notably, a total of 3 people died and 20 are left severely injured in the incident. In addition, a total of 1,053 people were travelling from the train.

Also, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has said, “I am reaching the site tomorrow morning. Medical teams, senior officers at the spot. PM Modi also took stock of the situation and rescue operation. Our focus is on rescue. Ex-gratia also announced.”  In addition,  Gurneet Kaur, Chief PRO, North-East Frontier Railway, Guwahati said, “Accident occurred around 5 pm b/w Domohani & New Maynaguri. Around 10 coaches were affected. 3 dead, 20 injured; 5 lakh for deceased, Rs 1 lakh for severely injured, Rs 25,000 for minor injuries. High-level inquiry ordered”.
