Today, Home Minister Rajnath Singh addressed the two month long Doklam standoff with China. Mr. Singh said he was confident that China would resolve the issue with positive solutions and clear the air between the two nuclear armed nations.
He was quoted saying, “There will be a solution soon and I am sure China will make a positive move.”
Rajnath Singh also informed even though India is not aggressive and has never initiated an attack it will not compromise on security. “Our security forces have all the power to protect Indian borders.”
Rajnath Singh also mentioned India’s main aim is to have friendly relations with all its neighboring countries. The Home Minister reminded us of Narendra Modi’s swearing in ceremony where all the leaders of neighboring countries were invited to show India’s initiative to pursue friendly relations.
The Doklam clash started after Indian troops did not allow the Chinese army to build a road in the area.
China was infuriated and claimed to be building the road in their territory and not India’s. China immediately ordered India to withdraw its troops from the Dhoklam plateau.
On the other hand, Bhutan claims Dhoklam to be part of it but China refuses to stand down.
